Depressive Black Metal bands

Depressive suicidal black metal, usually shortened to DSBM, turns black metal's bleakness inward. Slow, repetitive riffs, droning guitars and anguished, often howled vocals build something closer to a trance than a storm. Bands such as Silencer, Xasthur and Shining shaped the sound in the late 1990s and 2000s, and it remains one of metal's most personal and uncompromising corners.

Here you can find the DSBM bands in Metal TV's rotation, with their music videos, newest releases and any shows coming up. It is heavy listening by design. If the music touches on something you are going through, please reach out to someone you trust or a local support line.
