The band took its name after the song "Terrorizer" by Master. Terrorizer was one of the first bands that producer Scott Burns got to work with. The sound on World Downfall would later be known as the "death metal production". Because of his work, he later went on to be a well-known death metal producer. Jesse Pintado and Pete Sandoval reformed Terrorizer in 2005. Jesse died in Holland in August 2006 (shortly after the release of the comeback album Darker Days Ahead), allegedly from diabetes worsened by his rumoured alcoholism, thus ending the reunion of Terrorizer. In 2009, the band reformed once again, with Resistant Culture guitarist Katina Culture as Jesse's replacement. David Vincent returned to the band later in 2011. He left the band once again in 2013. On January 22, 2023, Pete Sandoval announced the split of Terrorizer and would shift his attention to his other band I Am Morbid. However, on August 9, 2023, he announced the band was back, with David Vincent re-joining the band. He cited on his Instagram account that the previous split was because he wasn't comfortable working with the old manager/crew anymore. Also, the band announced they were scheduled to headline Maranhão Open Air in São Luiz, Maranhão, Brazil in October and would only perform songs of the albums World Downfall and Hordes of Zombies. The festival was later cancelled due to low ticket sales. The UK-based extreme music magazine Terrorizer was named in honor of the band. Their song "Dead Shall Rise" appears in the game Earache: Extreme Metal Racing.
