Although Vigour became more active as a band since November 2005, the story goes back in late 2000, when Nathir (bass, vocals) and Heretic (guitars), after quitting their local band, started a black metal project named Hybrid Vigour. The first songs were soon composed, but it was difficult to find members to join them. Many participated in the project, but none as a permanent member. That was until 2005, when Deathmass (drums) and G. (guitars) joined them. At that time Heretic, due to personal reasons, had to quit. Nathir took over on guitars. In the Summer of 2007 the band decided to record 8 songs, intending to release them as a full-length album with the co-operation of Rektor as the sound engineer. It was during the recordings that the band's name changed to Vigour. In the summer of 2008 David Prudent (bass) joined the band as a permanent member and Nathir took over the vocals. In late 2010 / early 2011 Jan Westermann replaced Deathmass behind the drums, and Kostas Sampanis joined Vigour as the new lead guitarist.
