Scarabaeus split up in early 1998 due to a lack of overall "energy". Formed in 1991 by Richard Friday and Phil Lee Robinson in Aylesbury Bucks.After a number of drummers and bassists they were lucky to hook up with Dan Barlow (bass) & Andy Churchill (drums) in 1994. Scarabaeus became a popular Reading Berks metal band and over the 1995 - 1997 period played many cool shows all over the UK. Two UK tours (96&97) with 3D House of Beef (US) were the highlight of the band's experiences. ..Scarabaeus recorded only two demos between 94 & 97: Mortification Demo(with tracks) Frozen Dead, Mortification & Gargoyle. Southern Magnet Demo (with tracks) Nucleic, Southern Magnet, Closing the Loop & Traces of Guilt. ..Scarabaeus split in early 98 due to a lack of overall 'energy'. The band members have remained in contact ever since. Dan Barlow now plays in the popular The Trouble With Me (check their myspace). Richard Friday played in Reading's Sonic Test Era with Nick Skidmore on drums. In 2006 Richard moved to Sweden and decided to update & record some of the Scarabaeus tracks that never got recorded previously. Obviously with Richard in Sweden the recording is faciltated by internet, post and ryanair! The talented Nick Skidmore contributes drums on the newly recorded tracks.
