The band was partially based in London from 2015 to 2019 whilst Susan was a member. Expurgatory's name is derived from the Index Librorum Prohibitorum (ie: the Index Expurgatorius, or Expurgatory Index), which was a list of banned books kept by the Catholic Church from 1564 to 1966.
